      The module is designed to isolate standard current signals, 0 - 20mA, 4 - 20 mA. The supply power is drawn by the module from the input signal. The module can be used to isolate a two-wire converter, which is powered via the 4 - 20mA signal line. If a 0 - 20mA signal is to be isolated, the converter load must be ohmic. The isolation is reached by using a transformer. The input DC signal is chopped to be converted into an AC signal, which is fed into a transformer. It is picked up from the transformer secondary winding and subsequently demodulated to produce a DC signal. The input circuit is protected against noise and polarity reversal. It is also protected against current overload, by means of a resettable thermal cut-out In principle, it is a high-precision DC current transformer. For the same reason, the secondary circuit must be closed for the current passage through the primary winding.
